How this list is built
This ranks the most-reviewed restaurants in İzmir by their public Google review count. Review volume measures how much foot traffic and attention a place gets, not a judgement of quality, and it is certainly not our own endorsement. The star figure beside each name is Google's public rating, shown for reference only and linked through to the listing, where you can open Google Maps for the actual reviews. We keep these Google facts entirely separate from e.restaurant diner reviews and never mix them into our own scores.
İzmir's list reads differently to Istanbul's: the top spots are the Kordon waterfront and a cluster of village guesthouses near Ephesus rather than municipal social facilities, so this ranking stays closer to ordinary dining than the capital's does.
The ranking
Ranked by public Google review count. Ratings are Google's, shown for reference, not our endorsement.
- 1 İzmir Kordon Konak The seafront promenade dining strip at the centre of the city; İzmir's most-reviewed restaurant by a wide margin.
- 2 Asim Usta Kokorec Bornova A high-turnover kokoreç spot in the Bornova university district.
- 3 Şirincem Restaurant Cafe Pansiyon Selçuk A guesthouse restaurant in Şirince village near Ephesus, tied for the highest rating on this list.
- 4 Artemis Restaurant & Şarap Evi Selçuk A wine-house restaurant in the same Şirince village cluster near Ephesus.
- 5 Nuvia Bostanlı - Breakfast, Kitchen & Bar Karşıyaka A waterfront all-day spot on the Karşıyaka side of the bay.
- 6 İzmir Seyirtepe Restoran Bayraklı A hillside restaurant above Bayraklı with panoramic city views.
- 7 Meşhur Özçelik Aspava İzmir Bayraklı A grill-house in the Aspava tradition inland at Bayraklı, tied for the highest rating on this list.
- 8 Kordon Yengeç Restaurant Konak A long-standing fish restaurant on the Kordon waterfront.
The shape of the list matches how İzmir actually eats: the Kordon waterfront leads by a wide margin, a pair of village guesthouses near Ephesus punch well above their size because visitors review a memorable meal on the way out of the ruins, and the rest is a mix of genuine neighbourhood kitchens rather than civic infrastructure. For a full, filterable list you can sort yourself, the İzmir city page opens every listing with its rating and links.
Use it as a starting point
Treat this as a way in, not a final answer. The most-reviewed places are popular for a reason, but İzmir's Aegean cooking, olive-oil meze and long breakfast tables are often best found in the smaller Karşıyaka and Bornova kitchens that never accumulate tens of thousands of reviews. Our neighbourhood guide to İzmir is the better tool for finding those.
Why review count favours certain venues
A high review count mostly measures footfall, not merit. A seafront promenade that thousands of people pass every evening, or a guesthouse that every Ephesus day-tripper eats at once, will accumulate reviews far faster than an excellent twenty-table neighbourhood kitchen that locals visit for years without ever leaving a review. Read the count as popularity and the rating as a separate, complementary signal, and use both together rather than either alone.
This guide is e.restaurant's own editorial. Listing data comes from open global sources; where a restaurant is named, any star rating shown is Google's public rating, labelled and linked to the listing, and is kept separate from e.restaurant diner reviews.
