About Pizza cuisine

Pizza is an Italian dish of flatbread baked with toppings such as tomato, cheese and a wide range of additions. It has become one of the most popular foods worldwide, made in everything from wood-fired to fast-service styles.

The Netherlands' restaurant scene reflects its history as a global trading nation and centre of immigration. Dutch cuisine itself — stamppot, bitterballen, haring and stroopwafel — shares menu space with an exceptional range of international kitchens, particularly Indonesian, Surinamese and Chinese, brought by centuries of trade. The country's cities are known for unpretentious eating: gezellig (cosy) brown cafes, canal-side terrace dining, vibrant street-food markets and a lively brunch culture.

The 2 neighbourhoods and districts in this listing are not equal in restaurant density. Amsterdam (246), Haarlem (18) are the most restaurant-rich areas, each with its own dedicated page on this site for deeper exploration. Smaller districts are listed under the parent city page and accessible via the neighbourhood links below.
